On Screen: The Lost City

I am extremely lucky because my husband will pretty much watch anything with me, as long as it makes me happy. Will he enjoy it? Probably not, but half the time he isn’t even paying attention. Has my husband seen You’ve Got Mail at least 100 times? Yes, but that’s nothing compared to the times I’ve seen it.

My point is, it is nice when a movie comes out that we both want to see and enjoy. That movie most recently was The Lost City. I have been looking forward to this for MONTHS!! And then it was only in theaters and, look even pre-pandemic (and pre-child) we went to the movie theater like maybe once a year. So I have been waiting not so patiently for it to stream.

And it finally is, on Paramount+ which we didn’t have but now we do (for now!) A romance writer and her cover model! A treasure hunt! A bad guy kidnapping Sandy! What’s not to like?? It’s definitely got a modern day Romancing the Stone feel to it, but ok look don’t hate me but – I like this way better. SANDRA BULLOCK IS IN A PINK SEQUINED JUMPSUIT (on loan!) THE WHOLE TIME!! CHANNING TATUM IS HER ROMANCE COVER MODEL! Brad Pitt has a small role!

Sorry I’m getting ahead of myself – Sandra Bullock plays Loretta Sage, a reclusive romance writer on a book tour with her sexy cover model Dash who’s name is actually Alan (Channing Tatum). When Loretta is kidnapped by bad guy Abigail Fairfax (Daniel Radcliffe) and taken to the jungle to help him locate a lost treasure, Alan decides it’s time for him to be like romance hero Dash and rescue her.

I love Sandra Bullock so much. She is so funny and likable and perfect in rom coms! Channing Tatum was HILARIOUS (and hunky!). Daniel Radcliffe was such a great bad guy! Da’Vine Joy Randolph who plays Beth Hatten, Loretta’s publisher and also rescuer, was amazing. All around it was just a really fun, over the top movie that I can’t wait to watch again!

Also – I saw somewhere that apparently there is an end credit scene that set up a sequel?? I didn’t know there was an end credit scene so I will have to further investigate.
