Book Review: Just Another Love Song

My first read of the year was truly fantastic, and I’m taking that to be a good omen. I’m a big Kerry Winfrey fan, and I’ve been so excited to read her latest JUST ANOTHER LOVE SONG. And it definitely did not disappoint.

A confession (because I like to know these things) – I sobbed through most of it. HOWEVER, I’m pretty sure it was my mindset, because the book, while wonderful and so sweet and fun, is not really a tearjerker. LOL I think it was just me. So more than likely you will not ugly cry uncontrollably through it (unless perhaps your house was flooded and you found yourself living at your parents’ house completely overwhelmed and exhausted and then … who knows).

Sandy McIntosh had big dreams to leave her small hometown of Baileyville in pursuit of a career as an artist and exciting life, and she thought she’d do it with her high school boyfriend Hank Tillman. But when Sandy’s plans fall through, Hank goes off to college and Sandy stays in Baileyville.

Fifteen years later, Sandy has a built a life and business in Baileyville. Hank has become a country music star and touring the country. When he returns and they work together on the town fair, he turns Sandy’s world upside down, making her wonder what could have been all those years ago.

I absolutely LOVED Sandy and Hank. The chemistry! And Hank’s a sexy musician! And he’s a single dad with an adorable kid! JUST ANOTHER LOVE SONG has that quirky small town feel of Gilmore Girls, which I adore, and a fantastic cast of characters like Hot Pants Ed. (I couldn’t not mention Ed the dancer / magician / musician etc etc – just trust me on this one).

If you are looking for an absolutely adorable romance to start your new year off right, I highly recommend this one! (And all Kerry Winfrey books, if I’m being honest).
