Book Review: Digging Up Love

DIGGING UP LOVE was one of my 1/2 half of 2022 most anticipated new releases (part 2 is coming). Dinosaurs and baking? Sounded like a winning combo to me (spoiler alert – I was right!).

Alisha Blake dreams of leaving the tiny town of Hawksburg and opening her own cookie shop in Chicago. The only problem is she works for her grandfather’s BBQ restaurant and can’t leave her grandparents the way her father left her.

When dinosaur bones are discovered in the Blakes’ backyard, paleontologist Quentin Harris comes to see if the bones are really what they seem. And sparks fly between Alisha and Quentin. Alisha isn’t interested in a relationship. In fact she’s actively against one. And Quentin is still recovering from a broken engagement. He’s also determined to keep his mind on his job.

As the dig starts and the summer goes on, Alisha and Quentin can’t avoid the draw between them. But can the two set aside their issues to make it work?

This book was so cute and fun! I adored Alisha and Quentin. They had such great chemistry (and everything Alisha baked sounded amazing!) It was funny and smart and quirky. Their meet cute is really fun and I loved the small town. Alisha is really close to her grandparents, and her love and desire to be there for them no matter what was so sweet.

One of the things I really loved about this book was the fact that paleontology is just not one of those things that is featured in books or movies (unless you watch Jurassic Park or Friends of course). It was such a unique and interesting idea and I loved it!!

Chandra’s next book STIRRING UP LOVE (which I may have an ARC of waiting for me on my Kindle!) will be out in July so make sure it pre-order it!
