Book Review: The Rom-Commers

I am a huge Katherine Center fan. She’s become one of my automatic read authors. I don’t care what it’s about, I read it without ever even looking at the back cover copy. Doesn’t matter.

It started several years ago when I read HOW TO WALK AWAY thanks to it being a book of the month pick. Her earlier books are much more women’s fiction / romance, but her last few books (The Bodyguard, Hello Stranger and now The Rom-Commers), are in my opinion pure romance. And they are FANTASTIC (not that the others aren’t).

Emma Wheeler is a romantic comedy screenwriter, desperate to break into the business. However, being the sole, full time caretaker for her father has made it nearly impossible for that to happen. But when Emma gets the chance to help rewrite a truly terrible romantic comedy for her screenwriting hero Charlie Yates, her sister takes over as care giver and Emma can take the once in a lifetime opportunity.

Unfortunately, Charlie has no idea that Emma is coming. Even worse, he doesn’t want anything to do with her or the rewriting. Charlie doesn’t want to write with anyone, and he doesn’t care anything about writing romantic comedies. But Emma sets out to change his mind, determined to prove that romantic comedies are important, that love is real, and that she is a great writer.

This book was SO MUCH FUN!! I love Emma and Charlie. They had such great chemistry. And I loved the way Emma pushed and challenged Charlie. There’s this scene on a diving board I absolutely loved … but you’ll have to read it to know what I’m talking about.

This is a book for people who love romantic comedies, and those of us who understand them for the amazing art that they are. And I loved every minute of it!

Thank you to NetGalley & St. Martin’s Press for the ARC!
